Volunteers Wanted         

Use your experience to help preserve our future in Calvert County by becoming a Volunteer in Nature Education  (VINE). You'll work with naturalists, park staff, and other volunteers while enjoying Calvert County's Nature Parks.

Calvert County Natural Resources Division, in partnership with Battle Creek Nature Education Society, hopes that you will join our enthusiastic VINE members. Orientation, training, and continuing education help enhance your appreciation of Calvert County's natural resources.
  • Teacher  
    Work with a naturalist teaching environmental education programs. Weekend opportunities may include work with small groups in the "loft" or on the trail.
  • Receptionist/Host 
    Greet the public for a few hours at one of the sites. You can answer the phone, and assist with sales. Weekdays and weekends available.
  • Park Maintenance  
    Help maintain trails and gardens. Assist with construction projects: boardwalks, planting, etc. Times vary.
  • Scientific Researcher 
    Collect data for ongoing research projects. Interested in bluebird, kestrel, or barn owl nest box projects? How about amphibian and reptile distribution and population studies? We need help with these and various other projects!
  • Animal Care Provider
    Care for live animal collections. Job includes feeding animals, cleaning enclosures, or transporting injured wildlife.
  • VINES Support Staff  
    Use your special talents: media skills, word processing, public speaking, etc. to help us build and maintain our VINES program.
  • Outreach Events
    Organize and promote our sites and programs at special events such as PRAD, Children's Day, etc.
  • Fund Raising
    Raise money for BCNES. Assist in organizing and running events: herb sale, raffle ticket sales, etc.
