This half-hour discovery program allows the child to experience nature with their parent through the use of their senses and motion.

Ages 18 months to 3 years, with adult

Reservations are required

Fee per child:  $3.00, BCNES members $1.00

Feathers

Thursday, January 5                       10:00– 10:30 a.m.

Saturday, January 14                      10:00– 10:30 a.m.

                 Feathers are important for birds.  They not only help them fly but also keep them warm, help them hide or let them show off for the other birds.  Come and feel some real feathers in different sizes, shapes and colors, try to see birds at the birdfeeder then go outside and find some flying birds in the sky.

 

 
 

Maples Make Syrup

                 The maple tree is a very special tree.  It makes sweet sap that people use to make syrup!  Learn which animals besides people like maple sap and then try to identify a maple tree outside.  Go for a hike to find the maple trees we have tapped and sample some sweet maple syrup!

                 Peeew! What is that smell? Use your sense of smell as we explore two rather smelly things lurking in the Swamp. We’ll first practice using our sense of smell inside the Nature Center, then head out onto the boardwalk in search of the notorious Skunk and Skunk Cabbage.
