Registration Form

 

Nature Discovery Programs are offered for a wide range of ages intended to expose participants to the wonders of the natural world around us. Many sessions have limited space available so be sure to register early. Special accommodations are available for all programs with adequate notification.

How to Register for Programs

1. Call 410-535-5327, Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30 P.M. or e-mail cypressswamp@co.cal.md.us to see if program is full.
2. Fill out the program registration form.
3. Make check payable to BCNES.
4. Program fees are non-refundable unless the staff cancels the program or you cancel seven days in advance.
5. Mail the registration form and check to Calvert County Natural Resources Division no later than one week before the event.

 Family Programs

All ages

Families can experience the fascinating natural world found in our area. These programs often incorporate activities to entertain learners of all ages. Fees are $3.00/$1.00 BCNES members (per person) unless otherwise noted. With paid adult, children pay members’ fee. Reservations are required.

 Nature Puppets

Age 18 months to 5 years

This program meets the 1st Monday of the month and introduces children to the natural world with puppets, stories and exploration.   Reservations are required.  Fee: $3.00 per child; BCNES members $1.00. 

Nature Tykes

Ages 18 months to 3 years

For ages 18 months to 3 years at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. This half-hour discovery program allows the child to experience nature with their parent through the use of their senses and motion. A Parent must accompany their child. Reservations are required. Fee per child: $3.00; BCNES members $1.00

 Kids 'N' Critters

Ages 3-5

For ages 3 to 5 at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. These programs introduce youngsters to the many wonders of our natural environment through stories, puppets, songs and outdoor hands-on activities. Snack is provided. Reservations are required. Fee: $3.00/$1.00 BCNES member, per child.

Patuxent Kids
Ages 3-5

For ages 3 to 5 at Kings Landing Park. These programs introduce youngsters to the many wonders of our natural environment through stories, puppets, songs and outdoor hands-on activities. Snack is provided. Reservations are required. Fee: $3.00/$1.00 BCNES member, per child.

 Nature's Explorers

Ages 6-9

For ages 6 to 9 at various locations. These 90 minute programs allow students to investigate first-hand the life found in and around our area. Reservations are required. Fee: $3.00 (per participant)/$1.00 BCNES members.

 Summer Camps

 

Reservations: Registration forms and fees must be received by mail or in person prior to each program. We will not accept telephone registrations. All campers must be potty trained. Due to the popularity of the programs early registration is recommended. Registration will be held at the Battle Creek Nature Center between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. 

Please complete a separate registration form for each child.
School Groups
Students discover the world of nature during field trips to Battle Creek Cypress Swamp, Flag Ponds Nature Park, and King's Landing Park. Naturalist-led programs can be tailored to reinforce classroom studies. To schedule a field adventure call 410-535-5327 or e-mail: cypressswamp@co.cal.md.us.  There is a fee for school groups.

The Battle Creek Nature Education Society is a non-profit friend's organization, which helps to provide quality environmental education programs through Calvert County Natural Resources Division. Members receive discounted rates to programs and summer nature camps, and participate in the many "Members Only" activities.
