  • Kings Landing Park, Huntingtown

Registration

Free Program For Volunteers only.

In addition to learning some basic kayaking skills, volunteers will take a leisurely paddle along one of the nearby creeks.  The group will also stop periodically to try to identify some wetland plants along the way.

Location: Kings Landing Park (meet at the pier)

Reservations are required in advance, even if you are bringing your own kayak. Register online or in person (at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp), or by calling the nature center at 410-535-5327.

Due to the limited number of kayaks, we may not be able to accommodate your kayak preference. There is a chance that the demand for kayaks exceeds our capacity.

Recommended items to bring: plenty of water, a light snack such as a granola bar, a Ziploc inside of a Ziploc or a dry bag to keep your snack and other items dry, a hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, lip balm, shoes that can get wet, a towel, change of clothes/shoes for the ride home.  We will provide life jackets for volunteers who are using our kayaks, but you may be more comfortable in your own life jacket.

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
