  • Fee is per person.

Registration is closed

Rescheduled from 2/10 to 2/25

For students ages 12-16 years old - no parent needed

Our Teen Homeschool classes will meet in-person meetings because the groups are small enough to participate safely. Staff and participants will need to wear masks.  Classes will be outside only and if equipment is needed - each participant will have their own.

This winter we will start an exploration of the habitats present at Flag Ponds Nature Park. Teens will meet outside each month and spend the class out hiking the trails - we will explore the park, learn to identify the common plants and animals, build shelters, and whatever the season has to offer. Masks will be needed for all participants.

Each class session involves hands-on outdoor exploration.

Location: Flag Ponds Nature Park

Naturalist in charge: Tania Gale

Program Fee are per family: Please register each child separately

Free for Society members
$8 per family for nonmembers

COVID Policies and Procedures

The Calvert Nature Society has developed policies and procedures for public program operations based on state and CDC guidelines.

These policies are effective from June 5 until otherwise rescinded:

  • All participants over the age of 2 (including parents) must wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. Participants must provide their own masks.
  • Please consider the safety, health, and well-being of all participants in our programs and stay home if the participant is ill. Full refunds will be given for cancellations due to health concerns.
  • Prior to participation in any Society sponsored program,  we will ask each individual, to if under 18 a parent, to complete a participant waiver.

Please download and complete the waiver prior to the program. You may complete it online and email to CypressSwamp@CalvertCountyMD.gov, or print it and bring to the program. The waiver needs to be completed for each in-person program.

Please read our full policy statement and waiver.

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
