Registration is closed

For Families with children ages 5 and up.

Join a naturalist for a night hike and a sound census of the late summer crickets and katydids. Learn to identify different species of crickets by their calls and go for a short hike to see what species we can hear.  

Adult participation is required.  No younger siblings please. This hike is not be suitable for younger children or strollers as it will be off-trail on uneven ground.

COVID Policies and Procedures 

The Calvert Nature Society has developed policies and procedures for public program operations based on state and CDC guidelines. 

Please consider the safety, health, and well-being of all participants in our programs and stay home if the participant is ill. Full refunds will be given for cancellations due to health concerns. 

Prior to participation in any Society sponsored program,  we will ask each individual, to if under 18 a parent, to complete a participant waiver.

Please download and complete the waiver prior to the program. You may complete it online and email to CypressSwamp@CalvertCountyMD.gov, or print it and bring to  the program.  The waiver needs to be completed for each in-person program.

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
