Looking to Get Your Feet Wet in Environmental Education?

Now hiring for Summer 2024

Internships

College juniors and seniors and recent graduates needed for Summer 2024.

Send a letter of intent and your resume to Tania Gale - DEADLINE 4/30 or until filled

Candidates should have knowledge of local natural history and experience working with children.

  • Environmental Education: Leading programs for a wide age range
  • Public Programs: Plan and lead public nature interpretation programs, may include: pre-k classes, kayak trips, outreach, scout groups
  • Wildlife monitoring projects 
  • Park operations including animal care and garden and trail maintenance

Summer Internship period to be mid/late May through mid-August. Positions also available in Spring and Fall

Hours: Mostly weekdays between 9am-5pm, with occasional weekends, evenings, or overnights.  Average of 30 hours/week for 12 weeks for spring and fall, summer intern schedule varies greatly week-to-week based on summer camp schedules.

Stipend of $1,500

Selected candidates are required to pass a background check.

Summer Counselors

High School students are encouraged to apply to be summer camp counselors.  

Available to high school students age 16 and older.

Camp Counselors assist Naturalists in running nature discovery summer camps for elementary and teenaged children. 

Training will be provided, although babysitting experience is helpful.

Camps take place at the County nature parks; counselors must provide own transportation to park sites.

Hours: Most camps are during the weekdays, but some require an overnight campout. Counselors work approximately 20-40 hours per week, from mid-June through mid-August.

Starting pay is $15 per hour.
