Come learn about Barn Owls along the Patuxent. We will discuss how the nest box project is working to bring back to the area and ways that you can help with our conservation efforts.

This is a self led event.

Spend the an hour or a day outside exploring with your family in this fun bio blitz-style event called the “City Nature Challenge.” It’s easy – look for and find wildlife and plants, take a picture, and share it to iNaturalist (this can happen back at home also).

    City Nature Challenge 2019

Calvert County is part of the City Nature Challenge of the Washington DC region. Cities around the world will be competing to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the 2019 City Nature Challenge.

During the weekend of April 26-29, 2019 individuals and groups will be on the hunt for animals, plants, mushrooms, and other life forms. These observations will be documented on iNaturalist and counted towards our region's tally.

Information on the City Nature Challenge and a listing of naturalist led events:https://www.calvertparks.org/CNC2019/

To participate, download the iNaturalist app and creating an account.

Reservations are not required, but will help us track participation and for holding informal, spontaneous hikes.

Spend an hour or the day searching for plants and animals as part of the City Nature Challenge.

Bring a fully charged smartphone or digital camera.

Please download the iNaturalist app and create a (free) account before the program.
