This trip is open to Calvert Stewards who have volunteered during the past year. Thanks for everything you do!

Enjoy socializing with staff and volunteers on the 2-hour van ride to Tilghman Island, where we will take an exhilarating boat ride to Poplar Island. Enthusiastic staff from Maryland Environmental Service will take you on a bus tour of the newly-restored island where you will learn about its history and how it has become important habitat for terrapins, fish, and nesting birds. Wildlife will be abundant on the island, including colonies of nesting birds. You may want to bring your binoculars!

Location: meet at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp

Naturalist in charge:  Shannon Steele

Reservations are required. Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the reservation of people who are not current Calvert Stewards.

Program Fee: Free for Calvert Stewards who volunteered in 2018-2019
