Ages 9 and up, under 16 with adult, families,  service groups, service learning hours

Celebrate Volunteer Week and Earth Day by spending a few hours lending a hand to remove invasive beach grass at Flag Ponds Nature Park. Tasks will include cutting, bagging and transporting Phragmites grass to reduce the spread around the ponds and beaches at the park. Appropriate for adults, and families and groups with kids ages 9 and up. Youth 15 and under must have an adult present. This is a great event for service groups or students needing service learning hours!! Due to the physical nature of this project, no infants, toddlers or young children under age 7 will be permitted

We will provide all tools and protective equipment. Be aware that there is a half mile walk to and from the work site. Volunteers should wear long sleeves and pants, use a hat and sun protection, wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Location: Flag Ponds Nature Park

Staff in Charge: Jessy Oberright and Brian Bussard

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
