Bennett O. Hughes Memorial Tree Farm
1320 Clay Hammond Road
Beginning in December 2016, and throughout 2017, selective timber harvest activities will occur. Visitors should take extreme caution when hiking the property.
In 1986, Calvert County received a generous gift of land from the estate of Bennett O. Hughes. As a condition of the gift, the county agreed that 196-acre property would be maintained as a tree farm to demonstrate sustainable forest management.
Numerous trails meander through the forests, taking hikers through various successional stages of forest growth, meadows, and around a bucolic fishing pond.
Hikers are warned that the trails are not marked. A trail map is in development.
